Floods and Rainbow Lorikeets

I know I promised a blog post about my recent trip to Singapore, but it’s taking some time to write. Uploading the huge batch of photos is more than enough work! So here, have a post about the recent Big Wet on the Gold Coast. For the clueless, there was a severe thunderstorm warning for most of South-East Queensland a couple of days ago. Oh, heavy torrential rain you say? Wonderful! So, subsequent to the Bureau of Meteorology’s declarations of nasty weather, we experienced hurricane-like winds and relentless pouring rain for… quite a long time. As you can expect from hours and hours of hard rain, flash floods and such occurred here and there. Here’s a picture of the flooding in Nerang. And here are some pictures that I took on the way to Robina a day ago, when the weather started clearing up.

Looks like Bella could’ve gone swimming in the tennis court!

Anyway, Pickles and Bonanza came to say hi to us that day too. Very surprising. You’d think they’d have more important things to do like get on Noah’s ark or something. But no, the noisy couple came to James’ balcony to visit us. I thought they’d forgotten all about us! I fed them some rice crackers, which they seemed to appreciate.
